Deadline to withdraw nominations expires
The first phase of polls for ZPTC and MPTC seats will be held in seven mandals out of 18 mandals in the district.
Vikarabad: The first phase of polls for ZPTC and MPTC seats will be held in seven mandals out of 18 mandals in the district. The process of withdrawal of nominations was ended on Sunday. The candidates are ready for the polling. Many candidates have withdrawn their nominations from TRS and Congress after consultations and discussions.
As many as 116 candidates in 97 mandal territorial constituencies have withdrawn nomination and 269 candidates are in the fray in the Kodangal and Parigi constituencies. As many as 26 candidates are contesting for seven district territorial constituencies. BJP, TDP, CPI and independents are ready to contest in various places along with major parties.
Three MPTC seats were gained by candidates belonging to TRS. All the three were elected unanimously. This development buoyed TRS cadre and they want to repeat the feat in many places.
The TRS workers feel that if they work with the same enthusiasm, they will be able to win more seats in second and third phases. In the 39 mandal territories of Kondangal constituency, the ruling party has been able to ensure that it does not have the issue of rebels in remaining 36 seats. Even the Congress is pursuing a similar strategy.
TDP candidates in large numbers had been elected in Kondangal, Daultabad and Bombara constituencies in the last election as former MLA Revanth Reddy was in TDP. Now the situation has changed. MLA Koppula Mahesh Reddy in the Parigai constituency is also trying to win the MPTC and ZPTC seats. He is fortunate enough to get one MPTC seat unanimously. Former MLA Thammanagari Ramaohan Reddy is also trying to mobilise Congress vote bank and show his strength in the Parishad elections.
In the Kodangal mandal, 9 MPTC seats out of 31are going to polls in the first phase. Congress, TRS, BJP, TDP and Independent candidate are contesting as ZPTC candidates.
As many as 26 candidates are in the fray after 31 withdrew for 9 MPTC seats in Kodangal mandal. As many as 36 nominations had been withdrawn in Bomraspet mandal for 15 MPTC seats and 38 are in contest. Two contestants are remained for ZPTC and two others had opted out.
Out of the 15 provincial seats in the Daulatabad mandal, 31 candidates opted out and 53 are contesting. Four candidates remained for ZPTC as six candidates withdrew their nomination. Out of the 13 MPTC seats, 20 have been withdrawn and 32 are in the competition in Parigi mandal. Three candidates are in the fray for ZPTC.
23 candidates opted out of race for 16 MPTC seats in Kulkacharla mandal and 47 are in the fray. Five are contesting for ZPTC seat. For the 17 MPTC positions in Pudur mandal, 17 have been cancelled and 41 are in the fray. Two candidates are contesting for theZPTC seat.
As many as 38 candidates have withdrawn for 14 MPTC seats in Doma mandal and 32 are in competition. Five people are contesting for ZPTC seat. With the end of the nomination's withdrawal, the campaign began on Monday.
