Declare Medaram Jatra as national festival: TRS MP

Hyderabad: TRS MP Banda Prakash has requested the Central Government to recognise the famous Medaram Jatra as a national festival.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Prakash said the millions of devotees from Telangana and other states participate in the Medaram Jatra and the State Government makes elaborate arrangements for the event. He pointed out that Chief Ministers of neighbouring States had previously participated in Sammakka and Saralamma Jatra.

The TRS MP demanded that the Central Government establish a Tribal Museum in the region and provide Rs. 1,000 crore Medaram Jatra by recognising it as a national festival.
