Karimnagar: Democratic Teachers' Federation (DTF) State president M Raghushankar Reddy and general secretary T Linga Reddy condemned the arrest of 60 teachers, who went on a tour to Kaleshwaram to study Kaleshwaram project.

In a statement released here on Wednesday, they said that DTF State committee will select a few members from various departments and send them on tour to study about education sector, teaching aptitudes, CCE pattern, valuation and FR rules etc during summer vacations every year. As part of this routine, this year also the State committee arranged a tour to study Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project taken up by the State government at Kaleshwaram.

When the 60-teacher group were heading towards Kaleshwaram from Mancherial, Jaipur police officials arrested them at Rasulpalli village in Jaipur mandal, they alleged.

"When the MLAs, MPs and other public representatives went to observe the construction works of Kaleshwaram project, the same government encouraged them by arranging special buses to them. Then why the government apprehended the teachers illegally and didn't allowed them to visit the project and strictly told them to return," Raghushankar Reddy and Linga Reddy questioned.
