The Bhadrachalam police arrested former MP Midiam Babu Rao and CPM party leaders here on Wednesday after they staged a protest at Ambedkar Centre against the scrapping of Article 370 that accords special status to the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Bhadrachalam: The Bhadrachalam police arrested former MP Midiam Babu Rao and CPM party leaders here on Wednesday after they staged a protest at Ambedkar Centre against the scrapping of Article 370 that accords special status to the State of Jammu and Kashmir. During the protest, the agitating leaders, who wore black ribbons as mark of their protest, presented a memorandum to the statue of Dr Ambedkar at the centre and raised slogans against the Central government's decision.

Speaking on the occasion, the former MP, Babu Rao, slammed the Central government and stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government had made a wrong decision that could put many lives in Jammu and Kashmir in peril.

The police led by Circle Inspector P Satyanarayana Reddy took the former MP and the agitating leaders into custody.
