Chintalapalem (Suryapet): A farmer, Govinda Raju, of Revuru village in the district has adopted a different method to remove weeds from his six-acre field. Most of the farmers in Chintalapalem and Mellacheruvu mandals cultivate chilli and cotton crops and always find it difficult to remove weeds from their fields. They usually use an implement called 'Guntaka' by tying it to their oxen where they have to shell out Rs 600 per day to use the implement.

Govinda Raju, who doesn't have oxen, thought in a different way and attached the implement Guntaka to his two-wheeler by spending Rs 2,000 and finished removing weeds in his field by spending just a litre of petrol. He informed that the idea had helped him reduce the expenditure from Rs 600 a day to Rs 100 besides saving the time.
