A team of agriculture scientists from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU) supported by authorities from Kaveri Seeds Company conducted a training programme to the farmers in Gadwal district on Friday.

Gadwal: A team of agriculture scientists from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU) supported by authorities from Kaveri Seeds Company conducted a training programme to the farmers in Gadwal district on Friday.

The training was focused on best practices and various methods to control Pink Bollworm infestation in cotton. The scientists also discussed best agronomic practices to improve the yield during the training programme.

As part of the training programme, the famers were given awareness on best agronomic practices, Pink bollworm and Fall Armyworm management in cotton and maize crops respectively. The farmers were also given training in post-harvesting care and other aspects during the one-day workshop. More than 1,200 farmers took part in the one-day training programme, who were given technical advises by the scientists from PJTSAU on various aspects of crop cultivation and pest management practices.

The scientists who took part in the training programme included Dr A. Sudarshnam, PS (cotton), Rural Agriculture Research Station (RARS) Warangal, Dr S J Rahman, PS (ento) & Head of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Biological control, B Ram Prasad, Senior Scientist (Ento), RARS, Warangal, T Ashwini Scientist (Pl.Path) from RARS Warangal and V Divya, Scientist (Pl.Path) RARS from Palem.
