Farmers urged to adopt advanced technologies for better yields in Wanaparthy

Wanaparthy: District Collector Swetha Mohanty has called up on the farming community to utilise various government schemes implemented for the betterment of farmers and adopt advanced farming techniques to get better yields.

Taking part in the Haritha Haram programme in Kanchiravpally village of Pebbair mandal in the district, the Collector, during a meeting with the farmers, said that even today farmers were using age old farming tools and techniques and not adopting advanced methods. "As part of awareness on irrigation implements like sprinklers and drip irrigation systems, the government is providing these systems on subsidy and the farming communities must come forward to utilise these opportunities to get better yields with less input cost.

The local leaders like Sarpanches and Ward members must take play a key role in propagating these irrigation methods among farmers," the Collector opined. Later, the Collector interacted with Kanchiravpally village Sarpanch Sujatha Tejvardhan and learnt about the various issues and problems faced by the village. The Collector assured of all help to the village especially to the farmers.

After planting a sapling on the premises of gram panchayat office, the Collector urged the village representatives to take up Haritha Haram in a big way and make the village a model village.
