Filing of papers for Phase 2 starts today
The second phase of nominations for the ZPTC and MPTC elections in the erstwhile Khammam district will start on Friday.
Khammam: The second phase of nominations for the ZPTC and MPTC elections in the erstwhile Khammam district will start on Friday.
In the first phase, the nominations were received for seven ZPTC and 112 MPTC positions.
184 ZPTC and 678 MPTC nominations have been filed in the first phase. For the second phase, the nominations will be received from Friday.
In the second phase, nominations will be received for six ZPTC and 85 MPTC seats for six mandals.
The Returning Officers will issue a notification in the respective mandals on Friday.
After the notification announcement, election returning officers will accept nominations submitted on the day.
The candidates will be allowed to submit their nominations till the evening of April 28. Nominations scrutiny will take place on 29 and eligible nominations will be announced by the Returning Officers the same day.
Officials said that candidates can withdraw their nominations till May 2. The list of candidates will be announced after 3 pm on that day. The second phase polling will be held on May 10.
In the second phase, elections will be held in six mandals of Khammam district namely Enkuru, Tallada, Kalluru, Penuballi, Sattupalli and Vemsuru. A total of 2,29,970 voters will be exercising their voting right in six mandals. 477 polling stations have been set up in these six mandals.
