Gadwal: District Collector Sruthi Ojha launched sanitary action plan in the district on Monday, aiming to mitigate the spread of vector borne diseases during the upcoming rainy season.

The Collector enquired the locals during her visit to Parumala village on Monday whether gram Panchayat, revenue, municipal and health workers are strictly adhering to sanitary norms and delivering their duties. She also spoke with Panchayat Raj officials and village Sarpanch and elicited information about the various problems existing in the village.

Collector Ojha found open drainages with drain water flowing freely on the roads in Peddapally and Amaravaai villages in Maldakal mandal and immediately directed Panchayat Raj and village secretary to immediately address the issue on priority and directed the officials to immediately construct drainages in the village at the earliest.

Stating that sanitary action plan was launched in Gadwal district from June 1 to 8, the Collector ordered that each and every official concerned should make sure the sanitary action plan is strictly implemented. If sanitation problems still crop up in villages after the week, village secretaries concerned will be suspended, she warned.

As part of the action plan, the officials concerned in the chronological line-up must supervise the sanitation works being taken up every day and the same must be completed within the stipulated time period without any pending.
