Hyderabad: GHMC asks HMR to take up footpath restoration

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar has asked the HMR officials to take up road and footpath restoration works, development of central medians and hand over to GHMC from all along the route from JBS to MGBS.

Enforce speed limits

The monthly convergence meeting held at GHMC head office, hosted by Collector Hyderabad. During the meeting, the Commissioner asked the officials to provide speed limit sign boards in order to avoid accidents and regulate the traffic as most of the city roads can sustain only up to 40 km speed of vehicles.

He also suggested that officials inform and share the any new proposals of departments among themselves so public facilities were not damaged and would not hamper the developmental works. All road-cutting proposals and estimates be submitted the CRMP agencies so that they execute the works immediately.

Raise height of medians

Police officials said the percentage of pedestrian deaths in accidents deaths was 31. They further asked the HMR officials to raise the height of central median grills in order regulate pedestrian movement and prevent cross over as most of the accidents are occurring while crossing the road over central medians particularly in Kukatpally and Serilingampally area. On the illumination of dark spots, the Commissioner asked the officials to complete it by 29th of this month. Further, Lokesh Kumar, asked to share the data on allotment of houses under JNNURM, Vambay from 2000 till date so to avoid duplication. He asked the Discom officials to connect the power generation to the grid so that the solar power generation would commence on GHMC buildings. Issues of shifting of electric poles and improvement of footpath had come up for discussion and also on notification of parking places at Metro Rail stations.

No fine on water tankers

All the water and drainage works would be handed over to HMSS&SB for maintenance. On the request of HMWS&SB officials not to lay penalties on water tankers as it is essential commodity, the police officials agreed that they would not lay any penalty on parking and no entries. Collector Hyderabad Swetha Mohanthy, Additional Commissioners Priyanka Ala, Badhavath Santhosh, Rahul Raj PS, and Shankaraiah, Zonal Commissioners P Pravinya Reddy, Srinivas Reddy, Ravi Kiran and Mamatha, Additional CPs Anil Kumar and Ziauddin, chief engineers, ACPs and other senior officials HRDCL, Discom, HMWS & SB, HMR and police departments attended the meeting.
