Kothagudem: The water level in River Godavari at Bhadrachalam was increasing steadily and reached 30 feet mark on Wednesday. Irrigation projects in Kothagudem district are receiving huge inflows in the wake of continuous rains in their catchment area.

Pedavagu project in Aswaraopet mandal, Lothuvagu and Isukavagu in Aswapuram mandal were overflowing and road transport has been affected in 18 villages in Aswaraopeta mandal and 16 villages in Aswapuram mandal. Due to continuous rainfall in Bhadrachalam, Nityannadanam satram and the east entrance area of Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple were inundated with rainwater.

The officials are releasing 17,000 cusecs from Kinnerasani reservoir at Paloncha in the district by lifting four gates since Tuesday night. The water level in the reservoir was at 405 feet.

Similarly, seven gates of Taliperu project at Cherla were lifted to release about 17,626 cusecs of water downstream. The coal production was affected in SCCL's open cast mines of Kothagudem, Yellandu, Manugur and Sathupalli areas due to continuous rains for the past few days.
