Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has enquired about the sudden spurt in cases in Telangana as well as controversy regarding hike of PG medicine fees on Saturday.

The Vice-Chancellor of KNR Health University and member of the Expert Committee on the COVID-19, Karunakar Reddy, called on Governor at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. During the interaction, the Governor mentioned the new developments.

The VC explained that the matter of hike in PG medicine fee was pending before High Court of Telangana.

With regard to the bank guarantee-related problems, he said that some more time would be given to the admitted candidates to furnish the bank guarantee.

The Governor also enquired about the COVID-19 situation prevailing in the State and the sharp rise in cases in the last few days. Reddy observed that rise in cases was mainly due to people attending functions such as birthday parties, and most of the cases were either from a single family or from migrated labour.

The VC added that the tests are conducted strictly as per the guidelines of ICMR and there was no truth in the allegations that the less number of tests were being conducted in deviation of ICMR guidelines. He further affirmed that the situation was very much under control and the state machinery was taking all measures to contain the spread of virus.
