Orders Finance Secretary and TSRTC Managing Director to appear with full information on Friday at 2.30 pm

Hyderabad: The High Court of Telangana expressed its displeasure over the government saying that it was trying to hide facts from the court. The division bench on Tuesday observed that the officials were trying to hide facts.

The court asked the officiating Managing Director of the TSRTC Sunil Sharma and state Finance Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to appear before them on Friday at 2.30 pm with full information.

The court also found fault with the government's argument that it need not pay any amount to RTC. The government had argued that it stood guarantee to the loans raised by RTC and hence it had adjusted the money which GHMC had to pay to RTC towards what it had to pay to the banks.

The bench reacted saying that when government stands guarantee it would pay to the bank if the corporation becomes defaulter but nowhere the money is adjusted in such a manner.

Advocate-General BS Prasad informed the court that Andhra Pradesh has to pay 58 per cent of Rs 1,099 crore pending reimbursement money to the RTC.

Prasad informed the division bench that after the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana government had paid Rs 4,300 crore to rescue the crisis-hit RTC.

He brought to the notice of the court that the division of corporation assets was still pending at various levels and that the issue was to be resolved by the central government.

The Judges sought to know from the Advocate-General as to why the government was maintaining secrecy in revealing the details of the pending reimbursement dues owed to the corporation for the last six years.

The court also took strong exception to the government's claim that 75 per cent of the buses owned by the corporation were pressed into the services despite the RTC workers have gone on strike from October 5.

Judges said that not more than 30 per cent of the buses were running on the roads and people were at the receiving end.

When the court asked the government if it was in a position to pay Rs 47 crore towards the four demands of the RTC, the AG said that it was not in a position to do so in one-go but will try to pay if given time.

At this point, the court wanted to know if the financial situation was so bad how did the Chief Minister announce Rs 100 crore worth sops for the Huzurnagar Assembly constituency.

However, the issue of non-payment of salaries to employees for September which is being heard by a single judge bench postponed the case to Monday as the case had come up at the same time when the Advocate-General was arguing the case before the division bench.
