Assembly building to come up near Erramanzil

Hyderabad: Arrangements are in full swing for the foundation-laying ceremony on Thursday for the construction of new state-of-the-art Secretariat and Assembly buildings in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has approved the spot adjoining the D Block for ground-breaking ceremony of the construction of the new secretariat and a place close to Erramanzil heritage structure to build a new Assembly building.

Roads and Buildings officials on Tuesday visited the spots and had dug pits as part of arrangements for ground-breaking ceremony at the two venues. KCR's vastu advisor Suddala Sudhakar Teja and noted priests are busy making necessary arrangements to perform special pujas on the occasion.

All the Telangana ministers and Chief Secretary SK Joshi and Secretaries have been invited to attend the programme. AP officials will also be invited to grace the occasion.

Officials said that the construction activity will begin once the building designs and the construction agency is finalised. Shifting of the offices and demolition of the buildings is a major task before the government.

Officials said that the R&B department will assist the agency in the speedy construction of the buildings. KCR has targeted the completion of the works by Ugadi next. Shifting of the offices to other places will be taken up from July end onwards.

Sources said that the three-member Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by R&B minister V Prashanth Reddy is already preparing a report on the construction of the buildings in consultation with the top officials and experts in the construction in the city and other parts of the country.

KCR will chalk out an action plan to complete the construction on a war-footing after the sub-committee submits the report.
