Hanumakonda: 30 women hurt in goons attack
- The henchmen of realtors who want to dislodge the women living on the government land, attack them with stick and stones
- Many women sustain injuries
Hanumakonda: Around 30 hapless poor women sustained grievous injuries when a bunch of goons belonging to realtors allegedly attacked them indiscriminately at Gundla Singaram, a suburban village of Hanumakonda.
It may be mentioned here that some poor have been living on government land (survey no. 174 and 175) by erecting their huts. Since then, some realtors have been trying to dislodge them. On Tuesday, the goons put up thorny bushes stopping the habitants from moving from their huts. When the poor questioned them, the goons attacked them with sticks and by pelting stones. The mayhem continued until the police entered the scene.
The CPI Hanumakonda district council lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police Tarun Joshi. They alleged that the attack was led by Namindla Bhaskar, Boda Kishan, Madasu Jagan, M Bharath, Venkat and others.
CPI national council member Takkalapally Srinivas Rao visited MGM Hospital and consoled the women who sustained injuries in the attack. He demanded the government to make a statement in regard to the land of Gundla Singaram. The onus is on the government to protect its land, he said.
He demanded stringent action against the goons who attacked the poor. Hanumakonda district secretary Karre Bikshapathi, Warangal district secretary Mekala Ravi, former MLA Potharaju Saraiah and T Biskhapathi were among others present.
