Hundreds of children protest to save KBR Park

Jubilee Hills: Hundreds of school students gathered at KBR park here on a sunny morning braving the heat, and in the process joined several other students from 100 countries to raise their voice against global warming and climate change.

The 'KBR Walk' as they liked to call it was organised by Citizens for Hyderabad (CFH).

Kajal Maheshwari, coordinator of CFH said, "Our second walk was a student-driven one in which more than 1,000 school students participated to protect the greenery."

Students carried banners and wanted the powers that be to cut greenhouse gases.

The protest was conducted across the world.

Closer home, students wanted the government to protect KBR Park and maintain its greenery.

Srinivas Ande, a volunteer, said, "The KBR protest has taken up hike after central governments declaration which stated that the park destruction for flyovers construction would be decided after the elections based on citizens opinion."

Archan from Star Global School said as a matter of fact "Young people are disillusioned by the Telangana government for undertaking projects that directly impact its green cover, water bodies and open spaces be it KBR, Bison polo or DurgamChervu"

Mohd Asif from Esther Grammar School said, "With the strikes across the world it looks like global warming should now be the key issue in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections of India and all elections in the future.

We are urging all elected representatives to get their priorities right. We are the future voters"
