Hyderabad: The MIM party leadership which is known for delivering Jalsa-e-Youmul-Quran on 'Juma'tul Wida (last Friday of Ramzan) at Mecca Masjid has decided to go online this year, amidst the lockdown and as mosques being limited to a handful of namazis. According to a senior leader, for more than 50 years AIMIM has been conducting a Jalsa-e-Youmul-Quran and this year due to the pandemic crisis, Asaduddin Owaisi has decided to address online. Earlier also he addressed an online public meeting to observe the day of Hazrat Ali's martyrdom. On Thursday, Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted that, "As the holy month of Ramzan draws to a close, we observe Juma'tul Wida to mark the last Friday of the month. I'll be participating in an online public meeting tomorrow on the occasion," he tweeted.

Several religious leaders hoped that at least for the last Friday of Ramzan some permission under 'social distancing' norms would be given. While some of them also appealed in open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to allow 'under norms' the prayers for last Friday and for Eid-ul-Fitr.

For last two months, the religious places have been shut as part of precautionary measures to stop spread of Coronavirus. Normally, about one lakh devout turn up at Mecca Masjid for last Friday. Earlier Jalsa-e-Youmul-Quran used to be addressed by Salahuddin Owaisi, the father of Asaduddin Owaisi.
