Hyderabad: BJP National Executive member Perala Sekhara Rao stressed the need to create awareness among different sections of people to fight in the country's war against Covid-19.

He released a pamphlet to spread awareness on Covid at a press conference by the District BJP held at Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhavan here on Tuesday marking the occasion of the completion of one year during the second tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government at the Centre.

The BJP leader said that soon the pamphlets will be distributed among people in the party's efforts to prepare people on dealing with their safety from the COVID and help in containing its spread. BJP State vice-president S Venkateswara Rao said the Centre under PM Modi's government has resolved several pending and trouble issues faced by the country.

Criticising the opposition parties adopting minority appeasement policies since independence, he said, "PM Modi's government has shown its commitment to the minorities welfare by bringing the Triple Talaq bill, a key issue bothering Muslim women in the country." Besides successfully resolving the issue of construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the Modi's government at the Centre has also brought in the CAA and NRC to provide citizenship for the religiously persecuted Hindu, Sikh, Jain and other minorities from Pakistan and Bangladesh, who sought refuge in the country.

He reminded how the dismal response from the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, several others ascended to power from the opposition parties have failed to address the issue, he added. This, in turn, resulted in the 13 per cent population of the religious minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh to fall down to 1.5 per cent over since independence, he said.

The BJP State vice-president also criticised the opposition parties for making baseless charges against the prime minister and for misleading people on the Centre's Rs 20 lakh crore economic package and its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, he said.
