Hyderabad: Citizens sing paeans to VC Sajjanar

Hyderabad: Citizens especially women were now referring to Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar as real life Singham after the killing of accused in Disha rape and murder case in an encounter on early Friday morning hours.

Many in State echoed that December 6, 2019 would be etched in history of the State as the day police accomplished remarkable achievement that built not only confidence among girls and women but also their parents. After the news on the encounter of four accused broke, people came out onto the roads and celebrated it by dancing, distributing sweets and burning crackers.

Earlier last week when a veterinary doctor was found charred to death at a under construction bridge, several questions on safety of women in the State rose. The reports by the police stated that the doctor was kidnapped, brutally raped and then burnt to death.

The police within 48-hours took four accused into custody. According to the police, the accused had confessed that they saw Disha park her bike at the premises of toll gate and then hatched a plan to commit the heinous crime. After the details about the murder were relived, parents were reportedly living in fear thinking about tehri daughters.

Pepper sprays were bought by thousands of families for protection. But after the encounter, parents feel that a new sense of freedom was built among women and girls in the State.
