Bad roads, overflowing sewage remain irksome for Jeedimetla residents

Jeedimetla: Like many localities, Jeedimetla which comes under the Quthbullapur circle, a suburb with approximate 40,000 population, is beset with bad roads and overflowing sewage for years. Potholes and the bad state of roads have meant potent dangers lurking in lanes and by-lanes of the area.

Long neglected by netas, Jeedimetla sees piling up of promises during each election, only to be forgotten soon after. For the several years, locals have been suffering on account of poor public infrastructure, overflowing drainage and lack of streetlights. Even during the recent drive taken up ahead of GHMC elections, authorities have failed to resolve these issues.

Speaking to The Hans India, Srikanth, a resident of Shanta Sri Ram Housing community, said that the condition of roads turned pathetic since they were dug up for drainage pipeline repairs three months ago. "There are an inadequate number of speed-breakers near Sherwood School and a hospital in this area, which require special attention to avoid accidents. During elections, we requested the MLA and the corporator to look into the issue. They assured solution to all the issues at the earliest, but no action has been taken yet."

Ramesh Singh, a resident of NCL Sindhu, said "The recent heavy rains caused severe problems for the residents of our colony, where sewage and rainwater got mixed. Foul smell and overflow of water on the streets resulted in ill-health for many. We have taken the issues to the notice of officials concerned, but in."

When contacted, Krishna Chaitanya, Executive Engineer of Quthbullapur circle, said, "We have considered the issues and will resolve them as soon as possible."
