Hyderabad: As the in-charges have not been appointed to 34 Assembly constituencies of the State, the activities of the Congress have been suffering leading to disappointment among the cadre.

According to party leaders, constituencies like Manakodur, Husnabad, Alair, LB Nagar, Tandur, Narsapur, Maheswaram, Chevalla, Yellendu, Both, Nakirekal, Gadwal, Siddipet, Dubbaka, Kothagudem, Pinapaka, Kollapur, Yellareddy, Medak, Miryalaguda, Secunderabad, Bhupalapalli, Amberpet and others do not have incharges.

Though appointing incharges to these constituencies has been discussed in the previous core committee meeting yet no steps have been taken so far. About 12 MLAs have switched over to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and contested candidates of 22 other constituencies have also joined the BJP or TRS. The seven Assembly constituencies in old city of Hyderabad also do not have incharges.

Leaders of the party said that the organisation needed to be strengthened in these constituencies in view of the ensuing municipal elections. The responsibility of selecting candidates to the municipal elections lies on the AC incharges. Each of these constituencies has one or two municipalities and Corporations. The Assembly constituencies around Hyderabad have municipal corporations.

Apart from that there are no leaders in these constituencies to coordinate the programmes being announced by the State and national party. Sources said that as the party has to fight with the ruling parties at the national and State level for the next four years, appointment of incharges in these 34 ACs is essential.

They said that there was no progress in appointing the incharges in these constituencies as there was dilemma on the new president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). As speculations are high that the TPCC president would be replaced, and new executive may be appointed, leaders of the State party were not taking interest in appointing the incharges.

The leaders said that the issue of replacement of the TPCC president may not be taken up by the high command till third week of December. But the municipal elections may be held at any time. So, the TPCC leaders should not wait for the change in the TPCC president and should appoint incharges to the constituencies which do not have coordinators.
