Hyderabad: Six members of a family including a pregnant woman, who had attended the engagement ceremony on May 11 at Dhoolpet, have been tested positive and many others are under observation.
According to sources, the family belongs to the daughter of groom's father who died recently. The daughter lives at Golkonda in a joint family with 35 other members and six of them are believed to be tested corona positive while 20 others were taken to the King Koti Hospital for tests.
Sources said that out of the 35 family members, 26 persons from the family were taken for tests and nine were advised home quarantine. Daughter of the deceased, her husband and four others including a pregnant woman were tested positive. Among the 26 members taken to hospital at King Koti for tests include 40 days baby to 50-year-old person. All the family members were advised for home quarantine but the family members are said to have approached the local police station for taking them to conduct tests. Later, it was known that six were tested positive and remaining family members' reports are awaited.
The Dhoolpet area came under scanner after 16 of a family tested positive, after they organised an engagement ceremony on May 11. One of the family members died while he was being shifted to the Gandhi Hospital. The spurt of positive cases has led to fear among the residents in Dhoolpet area.
The fear further increased in the area as 32-year-old Ayurvedic medicine supplier was tested positive in the locality. Sources said that the medicine supplier from Balram Gali in Dhoolpet along with his friend from Jiyaguda (which is also a corona hotspot area) had recently visited a 'Gurukul' in Shamshabad and brought some medicines. The medicine supplier felt uneasiness after his return from the Gurukul. He was taken to King Koti Hospital where he tested corona positive. After an alert from the hospital authorities, the Mangalhat police barricaded the area and inquired about the contacts the supplier had come across. The reports of family members are awaited.
