Rajendranagar: Following the announcement made by the government to provide relief and financial assistance to White Ration Card holders, some Meeseva centers under Rajendranagar started milking the opportunity by charging extra amount to provide slips of Food Security Cards (FSCs) to the poor people.
According to sources, cashing in on the opportunity these Meeseva centers started collecting Rs 60 to Rs 100 each for providing online slips of FSCs registered on their names which they said were necessary to claim the ration as well as financial assistance announced by the State government, after it was decided to extend the period of lockdown till March 31.
However, upon receiving the complaints the civil supply officials raided the centers at Hassan Nagar and closed four of them for running during the crackdown and putting the poor people into trouble by collecting huge amounts for providing the copies of FSCs.
Assistant Civil Supply Officer, Saroornagar, Bala Saroja along with other officials visited Hassan Nagar, Mahmood Nagar, Indranagar and Sulaiman Nagar areas under Rajendranagar after receiving several complaints of irregularities in the Meeseva centers. She immediately closed down four of such centers taking the help from local police.
"Soon after receiving the complaints, we visited the areas and closed down three to four centers with the help of local police. We also informed the matter to the DSO Rangareddy District who in turn warned of taking strict action against those centers," informed ASO Bala Saroja.
"If needed, we will cancel the license of those centers and even book cases if they commit such irregularities henceforth," she warned.
