Hyderabad: In a ghastly road mishap, five persons including four persons died on spot and several others were injured in a road accident involving an auto-rickshaw, a truck and a TSRTC bus in Vikarabad district on Saturday morning.

The four victims who belonged to a family were identified as Sheni Bai (55), Sandhya (18), Nithin (15) and Sona Bai (15), who were aboard the auto. Another unidentified woman died while being shifted to a nearby hospital. Whereas five others travelling in the same auto-rickshaw were also injured and shifted to Sangareddy government hospital by the police with the support of villagers. Three of them are said to be in critical condition.

According to police, the incident happened at Izra Chittampalli village of Mominpet block, when the auto-rickshaw, carrying the victims who were agriculture labourers and were on their way to cotton fields at Shankarpalli, was hit by a speeding truck coming from opposite direction, while the auto driver waited on the road side to pick up some more workers from the village.

The truck, travelling from Sangareddy to Tandur was speeding and the driver may have failed to notice the auto-rickshaw parked on the side of the road and rammed into it.

Preliminary investigation revealed that due to poor visibility also, the driver could not spot the auto and went onto hit it and the RTC bus which was also coming in the opposite direction of truck rammed into the truck and turned upside down due to which some of the passengers travelling in the bus were also injured, said the police.
