Hyderabad: In wake of a spike in suspected Covid-19 cases over the last few days, the state health department has decided to divide the work among the frontline hospitals in the city thus reducing the burden on Gandhi Hospital by designating it as the treatment centre.

Currently, all the suspected cases are right way being admitted to Gandhi Hospital which has been entrusted with the task of sample testing and treating them, if they tested positive.

From now on, the suspected cases, mainly those returning from abroad, will be admitted to Fever and Chest Hospitals and samples will be sent to Gandhi and Osmania Hospitals.

Only patients who test positive, will be admitted to Gandhi Hospital for a focused treatment.

Though the government has made elaborate arrangements in Fever Hospital at Nallakunta and Chest Hospital at Erragadda, to tackle coronavirus situation, the Gandhi Hospital has been bearing the brunt so far.

Currently, Gandhi and Fever hospitals have earmarked 40 beds each and Chest Hospital 100 beds for the Covid-19 cases.
