Makes it mandatory for RWAs seeking saplings to commit to all-round care

Hyderabad: The sixth phase of Telangana ku Haritha Haram programme (TKHH) is tweaked to make some strategic changes to make the programme very successful. Unlike in the past, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is focusing on the survival rate of the plants other than the number of saplings distribution. On the same line, GHMC decided to distribute minimum five saplings and maximum ten saplings on one Aadhaar card.

"Citizens need to submit their copy of Aadhaar card along with the contact details to get a sapling free of cost from the GHMC. This mandatory of Aadahar copy is to ensure transparency in distribution by preventing any misuse. It will also help us to ensure that each sapling reaches the individuals who are serious in plantation and genuinely ready and helps Telangana government to increase green cover in the state," said G Hema, Project officer, UBD, GHMC.

Nurseries have begun distributing saplings for free of cost. The civic body is starting distribution of saplings after the plantation drive in different areas across the state. Overall, Telangana CM has set a target of 2.5 crore saplings this year to spread the green cover of the state.

In Serilingampally zone, Nalagandla nursery, Miyapur center and Krishnakanth park are ready with 30,000 saplings distribution on day one.

In Kukatpally, six wards and corporators of the wards along with residential welfare associations are gearing for the plantation drive and the Kukatpally zone is also to concentrate on survival rate of the plants and maintenance of the plants, according to V Mamatha, Kukatpally, Deputy Commissioner.

A supervisor is appointed by GHMC at every nursery to register the distribution data and for collecting the Aadhar card xerox copy. The supervisor will ensure that people take only five on one Aadhar card. If people want more saplings, they need to reach HMDA nursery to get it and only after proper inquiry about the survival and maintenance of plans at the individual place, HMDA will permit to take more saplings.

RWA must ensure proper care

Usually, residential welfare associations (RWA) seek large number of saplings for plantations at colony parks and GHMC provides enough saplings till date. But, this time, to get enough saplings for free of cost, the welfare association need to submit an undertaking letter to the GHMC Commissioner office along with the signatures of the welfare association members accepting responsibility for maintenance of plants, as GHMC is serious to ensure survival of all planted saplings.
