Hyderabad: Geological Survey of India Training Institute (GSITI) here is conducting the 11th international course on Geographic Information System (GSI) for geoscientists.

The course was inaugurated by M Sridhar, Director General, GSI in the presence of Ch Venkateswara Rao, Deputy Director General and Head Mission-V, GSITI and other officials of GSITI on Friday.

Annually, this course is being held under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The programme is aimed at the transfer of technology to experts as part of promoting social and economic advancement amongst the developing nations.

Eighteen participants from 16 (sixteen) ITEC countries viz. Bhutan, Botswana, Comoros, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, Niger, Nigeria, Russia, South Sudan and Tanzania are attending the course from January 31, 2020 to 29th February 2020.

Welcoming the participants, the dignitaries highlighted the fact that their knowledge sharing experience would be clubbed with the sharing of Indian cultural heritage.

The participants were facilitated with welcome kit during the inauguration.

During the course, the participants will be imparted technical knowhow in the field of the GIS and its applications, so as to efficiently apply these techniques in their respective domain.
