Hyderabad: High Court to take up illegal units case today

Rajendranagar: Presuming that the GHMC Commissioner, Lokesh Kumar would visit Shastripuram Colony a day ahead of the hearing of a case pertaining to pollution and industries in a residential colony, the local civic officials of Rajendranagar put the entire colony in 'neat and clean' mode since morning on Tuesday.

While the sanitation staff was seen actively involved in making roads clean and tidy, the officials too appeared shuttling from here and there in the colony to set the things right to impress the top official. However, the sudden drive surprised the people who argued that the real picture was other way round in ordinary days.

Lokesh Kumar was summoned by the Chief Justice High Court on March 11 to explain the inappropriate report filed by the Deputy Commissioner, Pradeep Kumar in the court regarding the actual number of units operating in Shastripuram residential colony.

Scaling the actual situation through the eye of its amicus curiae – the Member Secretary Telangana State legal Service Authority GV Subramanyam, the Chief Justice came down heavily on the GHMC and issued an order directing Commissioner Lokesh Kumar to present before the court on Wednesday to explain the alleged perjury committed by the DC Rajendranagar.

Meanwhile, Lokesh Kumar did not turn up at Shastripuram colony, instead he visited the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Rajendranagar along with Zonal Commissioner N Samrat Ashok. He held a closed-door meeting between Commissioner, Zonal Commissioner and DC Rajendranagar Pradeep Kumar. The meeting lasted for almost half-an-hour. It is said that the main issue discussed during the meeting was that of illegal industries in Shastripuram Colony for which a case was pending before high court and hearing of the same was scheduled on Wednesday.
