Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Saturday launched Road Safety clubs in schools, to impart traffic education and inculcate road discipline among school children from early age.
Hyderabad: Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Saturday launched Road Safety clubs in schools, to impart traffic education and inculcate road discipline among school children from early age.
Addressing the gathering, the Home Minister told people to avoid over speeding, drunken driving, wrong side driving, without helmet, driving without seat belt, minor driving, triple riding, signal jumping to avoid accidents.
He said the government is keen to provide safety and security to the citizens by giving top priority to it. That's why people all over the country are shifting to Hyderabad and Telangana State as the law and order situation is far better here.
To control accidents, the Police department took up special drive to create awareness among the schoolchildren and teenagers for their better future. He further said stringent action will be taken on the auto and cab drivers if they carry more children violating the rules.
He further added that by taking as a challenge, awareness will be created among 10 lakh students in over 3000 schools in Hyderabad to follow the traffic rules. He requested Education Minister to issue a GO for establishing Road Safety Clubs in all educational institutions all over Telangana State.
Along with City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Additional CP (Traffic) Anil Kumar, Actor Naga Shourya and Actress Samantha he unveiled the logo of "Road Safety Clubs."
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said by formation of Road Safety Clubs in schools, the students will get wider perspective of traffic education and awareness, rules and regulations of road and culture of law-abiding citizenship.
He appealed to student to say "No" when their parents, family members, friends and neighbourers commit traffic violations and play a key role in building the image of Hyderabad city and Telangana.
Actress Samantha encouraged students who joined in Road Safety Clubs and told that they are going to teach and correct the adults whenever they violate traffic rules.
Actor Naga Shourya said that through traffic education in road safety clubs the children will get greater awareness to follow the rules and become responsible citizens.
School teachers, drivers of autos, cabs, school vans and other vehicles and 1500 schoolchildren from various schools participated in the programme.
