Hyderabad: Makeshift arrangements for fruit market vendors at function hall

Hyderabad: In wake of the damages to the new fruit market in Koheda, the fruit market vendors can sell their products in a temporary market arranged in a function hall on the Nagole-Bandlaguda road.

The Gaddiannaram Market Committee met here on Wednesday in presence of Mayor Bonthu Rammohan. The committee members discussed about the shifting of market from Gaddiannaram to Koheda. The officials informed that the decision to shift the market was taken in wake of the Covid-19 and to avoid spread of the virus. About 700 to 800 vehicles come to the market every day and this was leading to huge rush in a small market yard. The facilities are not up to the mark in the yard and it was difficult to maintain physical distancing in the market hence the market was closed, the officials said.

It may be mentioned here that the market was shifted to Koheda in Rangareddy district and because of hailstorms on May 4, the sheds in the yard collapsed. The committee members resolved to take up repairs and also construct enough sheds immediately. Apart from the existing toilet blocks, two more blocks would be constructed with an expenditure of Rs 10 lakhs. For drinking water needs, a RO plant with Rs 15 lakh would also be set up, which would be of 2,000 litres capacity.

As it would take 15 days to complete repairs works of Koheda market shed, which was collapsed hence it was decided to have makeshift market in a function hall at Nagole-Bandlaguda road. Mayor urged the local MLAs to visit the area and facilitate the necessary arrangements.
