General Merchants Association president Sriram Vyas said, "We will sell our own 'Swadeshi' products and boycott all the Chinese goods until China does not stop its ill-attempts against India. Whatever stocks we had till now will be sold and from now onwards we will not order any China-made items." A mobile accessories shop owner in Azeez Plaza in Begum Bazar Babu Lal said that people were already inquiring about Indian made products. "We will be happy to sell Indian products that would make Indian companies get money," he said.

Shops time cut to fight Covid

The merchants have also taken another decision in the wake of Covid-19. The shops in the market would now be opened from 9 am to 5 pm every day from Friday onwards. This decision was taken as the market was getting crowded during evening time and it was also getting difficult for the merchants to maintain physical distancing. The market was kept open till 8 pm after relaxations from the government.
