Groceries distributed to families of needy priests, pastors, members of church and daily wage workers

Hyderabad: The Covid-19 pandemic has put in distress various sections of people, including priests, members, workers of temples and churches.

In view of this, the Youngistaan Foundation addressed the needs of these families living in Hyderabad by providing essential kits. Each kit contained 11 items including rice, pulses, wheat flour, salt, oil, chilli powder, milk powder, turmeric powder, body soap and detergent soap, sanitary napkins. The kid can provide relief for a family of four for 10 days (@ 3 meals each day), that can feed 24,000 meals overall.

The Minister for Education, Sabitha Indra Reddy, who handed over the kits, said "I am overwhelmed to see youngsters donating and distributing groceries generously towards the families of priests and pastors. Organizations like Youngistaan Foundation are doing great service for the needy. More youth should come forward to help the poor so that the community can develop."

She cautioned everyone that the lockdown has come to an end but not the virus, hence, all must follow precautionary measures to avoid spread of the virus.

Arun Daniel Yellamaty, founder, Youngistaan Foundation, said, "We have distributed nutrition kits to 13,903 families, 1,45,280 cooked meals, supplied essentials to 40 aided and old age homes totaling around 18,40,640 meals with the assistance of officials from Police, GHMC and other civil society organisations. It has created a remarkable platform for the youth to step up and help the community in the pandemic crisis.

The foundation also works on food and nutrition, zero hunger, education, menstrual hygiene management, child sexual abuse, animal abuse, career guidance.
