Hyderabad: OU students Plea to name Mulugu after Sammakka sisters

Osmania University: OU student associations conducted a human chain, demanding change of name of Mulugu district as Sammakka Sarakka district at Arts College under the aegis of SC, ST, BC Minority JAC on Friday. MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga, Mala Mahanadu President G Chennaiah, MLC Ramulu Nayak, backward community association leader JB Raju and others participated in the protest.

They said, "Mulugu district should be renamed as Sammakka- Saralamma Mulugu like Jogulamba Gadwal, Rajanna Sirisilla, Badradri Kothagudem,Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts." They also demanded Rs 1000 crore for the Medaram Jatara and holidays during the festival time.
