Hyderabad: The State Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association on Wednesday advised people to frequently wash hands to avert the danger of contacting new deadly coronavirus. It said there was no need for concern and that its members were creating public awareness on the do's and don'ts regarding the virus.

Leaders of the association met GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan in his office and pledged to cooperate 'fully' with the TRS government in preventing the spread of the virus, as part of its effort to check it.

Among the leaders who met the Mayor were Dr J Alwal Reddy (president), Dr M V Prasad (general secretary), Dr V Vishnu Rao (treasurer), Doctors Ravinder Rao, V Narender Reddy. Later they told the media that coronavirus had been prevailing for centuries and that it was not that dangerous. They said the virus would hit persons with weak immunity like elderly persons and those suffering serious ailments.

The association leaders asserted that the virus survived for a shorter duration and it gets killed in temperatures above 26 deg C. They said only the affected persons should sport masks. 'Persons should wash arms after reaching home and care should be taken during travelling,' they added.
