Hyderabad: Mild to moderate showers were witnessed in the southern and northern parts of the city here on Tuesday. Rainfall of 29.3 mm was recorded at Bahadurpura in Charminar Circle followed by 27 mm at Nampally, 22.5 mm at Rajendranagar, 21.3 mm at Amberpet, 21 mm at Golconda, 20 mm at Asif Nagar, 19.5 mm at Marredpally, 18.9 mm at Himayat Nagar, 18.3 mm at Saroornagar, 18 mm at Uppal, 17.3 mm at Musheerabad, 17 mm at Malkajgiri and 16 mm at Secunderabad.

In several parts of the city, sudden showers in the afternoon brought relief. In some areas branches from trees fell on the road disrupting traffic. Road works were affected in some places. People travelling towards Punjagutta took shelter under metro rail pillars.

Director Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad, K Nagaratna said, "Light to moderate rain or thunder showers are very likely to hit most parts of the city from Tuesday afternoon. For the next two days the city is likely to receive the same."

She further explained that, "The Southwest monsoon rains, which are already prevalent across the state, have been raining in the state, the eastward Vidarbha and surrounding areas have a surface frequency of 5.8 km to 7.6 km."

While heavy rains were very likely to occur at isolated places across the state during the next 24 hours.

DRF teams were alerted by the EVDM Director across different parts of the city incase of any waterlogging or Tree falls.

Some parts in Malakpet, Yakutpura and nearby areas were inundated for a while which were later cleared by DRF teams. Though there were heavy winds no reports of tree uprooting were reported by the DRF teams.

According to the IMD, the city is likely to witness moderate rains or thunderstorms after Tuesday 7PM.
