Hyderabad: With 21st day of Ramzan (Islamic calendar) marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali, the Shias have decided to shun the usual huge processions taken every year and will keep it low profile by staying indoors.

Ali ibn Abu Talib who is revered as Hazrat Ali was the son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad and considered to be the first Imam by Shia Muslims. Mir Firsath Ali Baqri, a Shia leader and face of BJP amongst Muslims in the city, appealed to the sect to adhere to strict norms for three days with effect from the 18th day of Ramzan month i.e. May 12. "During normal days, on 20th day, Ramzan Qaumi Matami Juloos (procession) is taken out from Charminar to Chaderghat. On 21st juloos is taken out from Charminar to Badshahi Ashoorkhana at Madina X road. But this year I appeal to everyone to remain indoors and observe the 1401st Martyrdom of Hazrat Ali," he said.

Baqri informed he had telephonic discussions in this regard with Dr Harsh Vardhan, the Union Minister Health & Family Welfare, S&T and ES, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs, and also G Kishan Reddy, the MOS for Home Affairs. Baqri also spoke to several religious leaders including Moulana Syed Matloob Mehdi Abedi ,Delhi, Moulana Dr Kalbe Jawad Naqvi, Lucknow, Moulana Syed Jalal Hyder Zaidi , Moulana Hyder Zaidi, Moulana Ali Hyde Farishta Hyderabad.
