Hyderabad: UGC issues orders to implement revised pensions

Hyderabad: Retired faculty and non-teaching staff of the universities and colleges, deemed to be universities receiving maintenance from the University Grants Commission (UGC) are to get revised pensions.

A UGC circular sent to the UGC supported institutions like central universities, Deemed to be universities and colleges said that the fixation of the revised pension, family pension, the revision of pay has been done keeping in view of the consecutive pay commissions. It was done strictly, following the corresponding revised pay features of the Four to Five and Six to Seventh Central Pay Commission's norms.

Following this, the UGC asked the universities, colleges to regulate the payment of pension, family pension accordance the new pension fixation guidelines. It has also asked them to follow the same norms and release if there are any admissible arrears to the pensioners. Further, the new order of pension fixation, it said is applicable in only where the said pension schemes have already been adopted with prior approval of the centre and MHRD, it said.
