Hyderabad: Worker dies after a blast at construction site in Madhapur

A woman labourer died after a blast at the construction site in Madhapur. Meanwhile, 15 labourers who were working at the site at the time of the incident had a narrow escape.

Getting into details, the construction works at the site located near Khajaguda had begun a year ago but were stalled due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown. However, the works were resumed in May. On Saturday, while the workers were busy working at the site, the contractors initiated rock blasting without alerting the workers.

During the blast, a part of the stone hit the woman who succumbed to serious injuries on the spot. She was identified as Lingamma.

The police were informed about the death of the worker who rushed to the spot and took the contractor into custody. The blast at the construction should be taken up in the absence of the workers, but the contractor carried it out when the workers are working.

The police shifted the body to a hospital for post-mortem and launched an investigation.
