Failure of police vigilance system has turned out to be a boon for the illegal miners in the region.

Basheerabad: Failure of police vigilance system has turned out to be a boon for the illegal miners in the region. Some miscreants have been minting large sums by digging valuable granites from 54 acres of government land in the survey numbers 298 and 299 in Jeevangi village.

Some people have been mining the granite in these lands without proper permissions, causing loss to the exchequer. Though the activity has been going on unabated for months in broad daylight, the government machinery does not seem to show any concern. But, some natives of the Jeevangi villages noticed the illegal activity and turned it to their fortune.

They started extorting the alleged miners and collecting Rs 15,000 to 20,000 from each mine. Some of the villagers alleged that the government officials from revenue and mining colluded with the miners. They appealed higher authorities to take action against the illegal miners.
