Secretary of Education Department B Janardhan Reddy says action will be taken against those responsible for goof-up and also against the Globarena Technologies

Hyderabad: The three-member committee headed by the Telangana State Technology Services (TSTS) Managing Director Venkateswara Rao, has found several defects on the part of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) and the Globarena Technologies Private Limited (GTPL).

The committee has been appointed by the State government to probe the defects on the part of the TSBIE and GTPL.

According to the Education Secretary B Janardhan Reddy, the three-member committee, which comprised Prof Vasan, an expert in the validation, evaluation using IT tools and methods from BITS, Hyderabad, and Prof Nishant, an adviser for several competitive examination bodies from the IIT, Hyderabad, had submitted it report to the State government.

Responsibility of the officials concerned in the TSBIE would be fixed and action would be taken against them. Similarly, legal opinion was sought to ascertain what action could be taken against the GTPL.

As the TSBIE had neither entered into an agreement with that company nor had it made any payments to the services rendered by it to the Board, he added.

The flaws identified by the three-member committee included the non-display of practical marks of Geography in students' mark memos in 531 cases, in case of 496 students, Attended and passed (AP) is displayed in place of marks, for very few students Attended and Failed (AF) is displayed in place of marks.

Besides, in the marks' memos of 4,288 MEC students, single digit marks were displayed for mathematics subject. Similarly, because of the bubbling errors in the OMR sheets, correct marks were not awarded to few students, he said.

In one instance, zero marks were awarded instead of 99 marks in Telugu II subject because of the bubbling error done by examiner, scrutiniser and chief examiner. This was not related to the application but human error.

The three-member committee also asked the State government to take steps to instil confidence among the students and parents, the committee said.
