Karimnagar: Telangana villages have been voting for the fourth consecutive election in the last five months. Officials are preparing to hold election to 15 ZPTC and 178 MPTC seats in Karimnagar district.

The people of the total 313 villages in the district had voted to elect their MLAs on December 7, 2018.

In January this year, about 4,90,660 villagers had elected 313 Sarpanches and 2,966 ward members and they had participated in the Lok Sabha elections held on April 11.

Now local body elections will take place in Karimnagar district in May. The district administration will set up 990 polling stations and 18 returning officers will be appointed to conduct the ZPTC elections. Whereas 142 ROs will be appointed for MPTC elections.

The training of ROs, PO, APOs and other election staff was started on April 15. The first phase of elections will be held in seven mandals in Huzurabad revenue division.

As many as 84 mandal territorial constituencies, seven Zilla Parishad territories will go to poll in the first phase. There are 2,37,729 voters in Huzurabad revenue division, of which 1,19,011 are women voters. There are more women voters compared to men in the villages of Karimnagar revenue division. There are 294 women voters in Hujurabad revenue division while there are 2,153 more women voter than men in Karimnagar. During the second phase, elections will be held for eight ZPTC and 89 MPTC seats.

There are 2,44,104 male, 2,46,551 women voters and five transgenders in the 313 villages of Karimnagar district.
