Jangaon: The residents of Yeswanthapur were up in arms against the Jangaon MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy over laying a sewage pipeline through their village.

It may be noted here that the residents of Yeswanthapur succeeded in getting a court order to stay the works of laying a pipeline to divert the sewage water from Jangaon town to Yeswanthapur lake. Leading the villagers' objection was former sarpanch and TRS leader Susheela. The objection of the residents was that the sewage water if let into the lake, could pose health hazards to the locals.

A decision to divert the water towards Yeswanthapur lake was taken as new canal was being constructed in place of the existing one which takes the drainage to the Nellutla lake. Yadagiri Reddy, who visited Yeswanthapur on Saturday to take part in the inauguration of development works, discussed the issue with the villagers. However, the residents strongly opposed the canal from passing close to their village.

Even though the MLA tried to convince them assuring them of treating the sewage water, the residents opposed tooth and nail. They said that the MLA is unlikely to address their cause. Susheela said, "We are going to be the ultimate sufferers. We rely on the lake for drinking water. The sewage pipeline into the lake is certain to cause adverse effects on the villagers." She also said that they are not against the development, but the safety of the residents is paramount.

At this point, the MLA laid on the ground, protesting the villagers' objection. Even though Susheela and others requested the MLA, the latter continued his protest for some time.

Following which, Susheela also squatted on the floor in protest, against the MLA's behaviour.

Later, the villagers pacified both of them. Susheela later said that a meeting would be held with the villagers to discuss the issue.
