Jangaon: Notwithstanding the fact that worshipping eminent personalities, especially film stars and politicos, is not a new phenomenon in our country, it's a huge surprise to find a life-size statue of United States (US) President Donald Trump. Over 13,000 kilometers eastwards of Washington DC, out in the countryside in the drought-prone tiny non-descript village, Konney, under Bachannapet mandal in Jangaon district, Trump has a hardcore disciple, Bussa Krishna, to whom he is no less than superhuman.

For Krishna, Donald Trump is a supercharged demigod with a lot of bravery and derring-do. His adoration for Trump started sometime back in 2016. Initially, Krishna used to offer vermillion, turmeric, flowers, topping it up by performing harati to the portrait of Trump. Krishna's family runs a kirana (provisional) store besides their dependence on agriculture.

On Friday (June 14), which also happens to be the birthday of Trump, Krishna installed a life-sized statue of the US President. It was no different like that last three years, Krishna celebrated trump's birthday on a pomp note. He performs it like a ritual, and why not his parents join the celebration. He also invites his friends and relatives to witness the birthday fete.

Speaking to The Hans India, the 32-year-old Krishna said: "To my knowledge Trump is the toughest President the US ever had. He alone has guts to hit back at terror outfits that are threatening the existence of mankind. Due to his straightforwardness, he always draws criticism. But he is a maverick, who can change this world."

When asked about his devotion towards Trump, Krishna said that Indian culture is a true manifestation of humility and love. By worshipping Trump, I want to show the world that Indians are the best. We need protection for lakhs of Indian, who either migrated or making a living in that country. The statue of Trump that he installed on Friday cost him Rs 1.30 lakh. The statue was sculpted in Kolanpak.
