Kamareddy: Panchayat bans sale of liquor in village

Kamareddy: A village panchayat in Domakonda mandal has imposed blanket ban on sale and consumption of liquor in the panchayat limits and also imposed a fine on vends. The prohibition starts from Thursday.

According to sources, the Ambaripet Panchayat members and people gathered on Wednesday and decided to ban the liquor sale in the village.

The elders were hurt as the drunkards showed no respect to even to temple or school. They were concerned about the future of youth as they have become addicted to it. Even schoolchildren do not hesitate to take few pegs.

The concerned villagers discussed the issue among themselves and also raised it on social media, particularly on WhatsApp.

The villagers allege that four belt shops in Ambaripet have been selling alcohol for 24 hours. The village panchayat warned them not to sell liquor in the village from Thursday.

It is also decided to impose a fine of Rs. 20,000 on those who sell alcohol in the villager. Rs 10,000 will be rewarded to the person who reports violation of the panchayat diktat.

The decision was taken in the presence of all villagers including youth and women. Sarpanch Salim and MPTC Phirangi Rajeshwar announced the decision of panchayat and said that it was resolved to create a healthy environment in the village.

If people become conscious of social evils, a good community foundation will start from the village and bring about a positive change throughout the country, they said.
