Karimnagar: The Karimnagar district stood at third position across the State in SSC results with 99.73 pass percentage that were announced on Monday.

A total of 14,162 students appeared for the SSC examinations from 495 government and private schools. Of this, 7,525 are boys and 6,637 are girls. The boys with a pass percentage of 98.42 have slightly dominated the girls whose pass percentage is 98.33.

The exams were held from March 14 at 71 examinations centres across the district.

Meanwhile, the students of Jagtial district made it again and secured first position at State level for third time successfully in SSC results.

During the last two years, Karimnagar district got second position but dropped to third this year. But the percentage of marks secured by the district has gradually increased from the last two years. It got 93.73% in 2017 and 94.03% in 2018 and 98.39% this year. But the district was in fifth position in 2015 (80.8%) and in 2016 (86.4%) and was in 14th position in 2014 with a pass percentage of 89.7.

District Collector Dr A Sharath took it a challenge and directed the teachers to strive hard for making the district to top the list among the 33 districts in the State.

The Collector initiated a new programme in the name of 'Uttejam' focusing on SSC students and directed the officials concerned department to take special care by conducting extra classes to SSC students, especially focusing on those, who are weak in studies.

He also provided refreshments to the students studying in government schools like that of private educational institutions by sanctioning special funds.

The Collector also conducted meetings with the principals of government schools for every 15 days for the last four months and reviewed the progress of the students. All the efforts put by the district administration and teachers the district bore fruits with the district occupying third position.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Dr A Sharath said with the collective efforts of students and teachers, they got good results.

'Uttejam', which was started with a good intention for SSC students, also gave fruitful results, he added.

Nizamabad MP K Kavitha and Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar along with other public representatives extended their helping for making Uttejjam programme successful in the district, he stated.

The Collector congratulated all the officials and teachers and students.
