For pumping water to upstream against the water flow in Godavari River, 22 pumping centres and 96 pump sets motors with 4,680 megawatts capacity were used to construct the prestigious KLIS project in association with Engineering Infrastructure Limited, Electro Mechanical Engineering, BHEL etc. Bahubali motor pump sets, which have capacity of 139 megawatts were used along with construction of 400/11 KV electricity sub-station, he informed.

All the barren lands became fertile with the supply of Godavari water from Kaleswaram project. Earlier in summer season, people were suffered with insufficient drinking water, but after the Kaleswaram project, lakes in several villages are overflowing. At present in Choppadandi constituency, Godavari water is supplied to about 40,000 acres and to about 40 lakh acres across the State from Kaleswaram project, he added.

Earlier, farmers used to cultivate crops after rainfall, but now the scene was changed in the Telangana with KLIS project and the farmers are getting maximum benefits with the crops they cultivated, the MLA said.

Ravi Shankar said that with Lakshmipur (Gayatri) pump house, Narayanapur reservoir, Maisamma lake and Potharam reservoir along with Mid Manair reservoir, Choppadandi constituency has become water hub in Telangana State.
