Karimnagar: Demanding the government payment of 50% of salary that was deducted from the salaries of March, April and May of all government employees and pensioners immediately, Ikya Vedika and Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) representatives staged a dharna at the Collectorate in Karimnagar on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, State Steering Committee member and DTF State president M Raghushankar Reddy alleged that using corona pandemic as an opportunity, the State government is deducting 50 percent of salaries for the past three months of government employees and pensioners. Pensioners, who depend on pension only, are facing lot of problems with 50% deduction. He said that the government had deducted 50% in the first month and 25% in second month from the salaries of government employees and pensioners.

After the lockdown relaxation by both State and Central governments, all economic activities have returned to normalcy and the government is getting income from them but still paying only half salary for May, he criticised.

Reddy said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to pay full salaries to the government employees and pensioners but his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao is showing discrimination against government employees and pensioners and is deducting their salaries.

He alleged that KCR's government is totally against the employees and he hasn't fulfilled his promise made two years ago to pay PRC, IR and DA to the government employees till date. He demanded the government not to deduct salaries in the name of coronavirus and pay the deducted amount immediately along with PRC, IR and DA.

BTF State president K Ramesh, PSHMA State general secretary N Subash, SGTU State general secretary K Mahipal Reddy, DTF district president A Srinivas Reddy, UTF State secretary G Ashok, STU district president K Ravindra Chary and TPTF State secretary M Ramulu were present along with others.
