Hanamkonda: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is more of words than deeds, Telugu Desam Party State organising secretary Gattu Prasad Babu commented, stating that there is still a lot to done for the completion of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
Speaking to the media persons in Hanamkonda on Monday, he alleged that the government led by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is creating a lot of buzz than the actual progress.
"Even though KCR had set the deadline for the conduct of trial run of the project before June-end, it's not all that easy as there are certain issues that need to be addressed immediately" Prasad Babu said.
The Telangana government is yet to get the all-important clearance from the Maharashtra for the land acquisition. However, the Chief Minister talks big of completing the project, which was aimed at irrigating 38 lakhs of acres.
He said that the government is yet to set up power supply infrastructure for lifting water from the Kaleshwaram project. Instead of focusing on establishing power supply infrastructure, KCR is dillydallying over the issue, he alleged. This apart, the TRS government is yet to focus on providing manpower for the maintenance of the project, he said accusing KCR of hoodwinking people by showing them a rosy picture.
Stating that the government had lacked scientific way of approach in dealing with the issue, Prasad Babu dared KCR to resign from the post if he fails to provide irrigation from July. The government is more interested in revising the cost of the project at regular intervals, he alleged. Even though the KCR government is chest-thumping about the Kaleshwaram project's benefits, the Central Water Commission (CWC) has not said anything about it. The TRS government also failed to fetch funds from the Central Government for the project, he said.
He said the TDP has plans to send a delegation to the Kaleshwaram project site to expose the KCR government's hollow promises. He demanded Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao and legislators to come out in open to disclose the benefits erstwhile Warangal district stands to get through Kaleshwaram project. Prasad Babu also sought the government to release a white paper on Kaleshwaram project. Further, he demanded the government to send Opposition party leaders to the project site to analyse the progress of the ongoing work.
