Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has appealed the union government to reconsider the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act. He said the CAA was not for the well-being of the country.

KCR alleged that the BJP has brought the CAA aiming to draw temporary political advantages. Practically, the act is not benefited to any community except deepening the division between people on religious grounds.

Participating in the debate on CAA in the assembly, the chief minister asserted the centre should elicit the views of every section before implementing the controversial CAA which triggered political unrest for a while in the country this year.

It is also a not good sign that the act triggered communal violence in the national capital when the US President Donald Trump was on India visit, KCR said.
