TPCC chief says total debt has now gone up to Rs 2.6 lakh crore during the five years of KCR rule

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday has criticised that the State has been made a debt ridden one without any development in the past five years.

Speaking after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Formation Day of Telangana at Gandhi Bhavan, he alleged the total debt of the State that stood at Rs 69,000 crore at the time of the formation of the State, has now gone up to Rs.2.6 lakh crore during the five years of KCR rule but there was no proportionate development.

He alleged that the Centre has failed to implement the promises being made to the State in the past five years and demanded it to complete the construction of 4000 MW power plant of the National Thermal Power Corporation.

He said that the Centre did not allocate Tribal university, did not establish steel factory at Bayyaram and coach factory at Kazipet. There were about 12 lakh youth in the State who have registered their names with the State Public Service Commission for jobs.

He demanded the government to waive the loans of the farmers at one go. So far the government has not framed rules for implementation of unemployment allowance to the jobless youth.

Uttam alleged that the State government has been suppressing the constitutional bodies. It has been buying the MLAs of other parties and all should condemn this. The Congress would stand by the SCs and STs.

He said that the Congress got good number of votes in the Parliament elections than the Assembly polls. The BJP has won four seats in the State out of luck. It was Congress which was the real alternative to TRS in Telangana.

Meanwhile, addressing the media, former MLC Shabbir Ali said that the government failed to meet the expectations of the people in developing the State. He said that the Chief Minister was talking only about Aasara pensions and supply of power as there was some achievement in them.

He said that the Mission Bhagiratha and the Mission Kakatiya have failed and government should release a white paper on the financial condition of the State. He alleged that even the ruling party did not condole the deaths of Intermediate students.

Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy said that Telangana was formed with the sacrifices of the students. He said that no justice has been done to them after formation of the State.

He said that it is a matter of shame to reach 29th position in literacy rate. He alleged that only for taking commissions, the Mission Bhagiratha has been implemented with the borrowed amounts.
